It's nice when getting up at 4am actually pays off. After a week of getting up early only to be disappointed by cloudless skies at sunrise, I debated whether it was really worth the pre-sunrise trip to Mono Lake, since the photographic potential depends so much on having interesting skies and calm winds (for reflections).
